India and Australia are gearing up for an exciting clash in the Boxing Day Test, starting December 26th at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This match will be the fourth in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Over the years, Indian cricket has grown to become a major force in the sport, constantly challenging Australia and other top teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been at the forefront of this rise, especially through the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has transformed cricket globally.
Ahead of this big series, Australian cricketers were asked to sum up their thoughts on the BCCI, the International Cricket Council (ICC), and Indian cricket in just one word. The answers they gave were bold and interesting.
Travis Head’s responses were direct and to the point. He called the BCCI the "Rulers," suggesting India's dominance in cricket. He also mentioned that the ICC comes in second, hinting that India’s influence is unmatched. For Indian cricket, he simply called it “Strong.”
Meanwhile, Steve Smith’s answers took an interesting turn. He initially described the BCCI as a "Powerhouse," but then joked about the ICC not being as powerful, before changing it to “Leaders.” For Indian cricket, he confidently called them “Leaders.”
How Can India Still Qualify for the WTC Final?
As for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, India cannot afford to lose any of their last two Tests against Australia. If they win both of their remaining matches, their points percentage (PCT) will rise to 60.52%, securing their place in the final. However, this will require India to win both Tests in Melbourne and Sydney, which would be a massive achievement against the defending champions on their home ground.
Even if India wins one and draws one, they can still qualify, but it depends on Sri Lanka drawing at least one Test against Australia. A loss in either of India’s remaining matches would put their qualification hopes at risk, and they'd need Sri Lanka to defeat Australia 2-0—a tough scenario to rely on.
