In a remarkable turn of events, Rajasthan Royals have joined six of their counterparts- CSK, MI, DC, KKR, RCB and PBKS- in an elite list of teams to have featured in 200 matches in the Indian Premier League. The Royals' ongoing group-stage face off against Chennai Super Kings is their 200th game in the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals: The Legacy

Rajasthan Royals have a rich legacy in the IPL, being the first-ever champions in the history of the tournament. Legendary late Australian spinner Shane Warne led the Royals to title in the IPL 2008. Overall, in 199 IPL matches, RR have won 100, losing 97 fixtures. The rest two games have concluded without a result.

Six players- Shane Warne, Shane Watson, Rahul Dravid, Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson- have led RR over the years. Veteran Australian batter Steve Smith has statistically been their best skipper, with his win to loss ratio reading 1.36.

Despite getting early success, the Royals have been underwhelming in the IPL, failing to qualify for the playoffs on eight occasions. However, they entered the playoffs last year, but faltered in the final, losing to Gujarat Titans.

They have enjoyed decent success in the IPL 2023, placed third with four wins in seven outings.

RR vs CSK: Toss Update

Meanwhile, RR have won the toss and elected to bat first against CSK in their eighth group-stage fixture of the tournament. However, they will be without Trent Boult, who has sustained a niggle, being replaced by Adam Zampa in the playing XI.
