In a latest discussion with ICC Insider, Sanjana Ganesan, former India coach, Ravi Shastri was asked about his favourite moment from the T20 World Cup 2024.

The 62-year-old had a tough choice, but he selected the India-Pakistan group stage match as his favorite encounter and reserved a special praise for Jasprit Bumrah.

Shastri Picks Bumrah's spell as the greatest moment of World Cup

In a nail-biting encounter at the Nassau County Stadium, New York, India and Pakistan battled in a low-scoring affair. India posted a meagre 119, and the target was well within Pakistan's reach when Bumrah turned the game on its head and helped India win by 6 runs.

The moment of the match came when Bumrah castled Mohammad Rizwan's stumps, which turned out to be the game-changing moment.

“I think India-Pakistan because India were made to fight there and realise what the right combination should be going forward in the tournament. That and then of course the final, those final five overs [from the T20 World Cup final],” Shastri said.

“I'd say one was Jasprit [Bumrah] getting Mohammad Rizwan. Extremely crucial, because that could have tilted the balance of the game. And it happened on the first ball of a new spell,” he added.

Bumrah's spell against South Africa was also in Shastri's favourite moment from the World Cup. At one stage in the finals, South Africa needed 27 off 28 balls, and this is when Bumrah came to life and delivered the spell of his life to win the World Cup for India.
