Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, will be taking a break during the upcoming Zimbabwe series. This break follows a packed schedule that includes the IPL and the T20 World Cup. 

Rohit Sharma, especially, has been on the field for quite some time, while Kohli recently took time off for the birth of his second child.

IPL prodigies to get an opportunity

With veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma resting, it's a golden opportunity for the emerging talents from the IPL to showcase their skills in the upcoming Zimbabwe series. 

The BCCI's decision to prioritize giving chances to new players in a smaller tournament over the T20 World Cup confirms that the seniors will indeed be leading the charge during the world cup in June.

BCCI dreams an ICC trophy with Rohit & Kohli

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had stepped away from the T20 setup following the disappointment of the 2022 World Cup loss. However, earlier this year, they both re-entered the equation for the tournament against Afghanistan. 

With India yet to secure an ICC tournament victory during Rohit and Kohli's prime, this upcoming opportunity could be one of their best chances to finally clinch the title.

India is set for an action-packed cricket season after World Cup, starting with a series of 5 T20 matches in Zimbabwe, commencing on July 6th. Following this, towards the end of July, India will engage in another series, this time against Sri Lanka, featuring 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches. 

Notably, both tournaments will see the participation of a young Indian team and seniors will be rested as per the reports.
