The new impact sub rule has really shaken things up in the IPL. With teams now having 12 players in their lineup, they're playing with much more fearlessness and aggression, which is making the cricket way more exciting and entertaining.

This IPL season, we've seen teams scoring over 250 runs four times, and many others coming pretty close to that mark too. Having that extra player in the squad gives teams a lot more flexibility, and it's like they're going all out, which is entertaining to watch.

The impact sub rule does pose a challenge for all-rounders in a team. With the option to substitute players, teams can now field lineups with five bowling options and seven batters, which somewhat diminishes the need for all-rounders.

However, Indian cricket team captain and Mumbai Indians player, Rohit Sharma is not a fan of this rule.

"I am not big fan of impact sub rule. It is going to hold all-rounders back, guys like Dube & Sundar aren’t getting to bowl which is not a good thing for us - it is entertaining as there are 12 players, giving lots of options"-Rohit Sharma said.

MS Dhoni previously expressed similar concerns about the impact sub rule, noting its potential to sideline all-rounders in the game. The rule can limit the opportunities for both batting and bowling all-rounders to showcase and enhance their skills.

It's worth to note that Big Bash League (BBL) had experimented with a similar 12th man rule in the past  named 'X factor' rule, which was later scraped.
