Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of KKR has injured his finger in the 12th over of Delhi Capitals' innings. He hurt his finger while stopping a drive from Faf du Plessis at extra cover, and went off the field in pain. In his absence, Sunil Narine took over the captaincy of KKR.
Sunil Narine Takes Over Leadership From Injured Ajinkya Rahane
It was the third delivery of the Russell over and Faf du Plessis pushed it towards the extra cover region. Rahane stopped it, but did not collect it cleanly, and in the process hurt his finger. Rahane already had strappings on his fingers and was then seen in the dugout getting more treatment on his right hand.
Ramandeep Singh came in as a substitute fielder for Ajinkya Rahane, and Narine took on the responsibility to bring KKR back in the game. He not only led them but produced an amazing spell where he removed Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs and Faf du Plessis to put DC on the back foot.
There is no clarity on the intensity of Ajinkya Rahane's injury, and KKR fans would be hoping that their captain is fit and ready for the next game. Rahane is not only important as a leader, but is a quality batter too, and is in form, something which he displayed against DC with his quick-fire 26 from 14 balls.
Also, KKR cannot afford slip-ups in the tournament anymore, and need all their best players to assemble together and deliver as a unit.
