Rohit Sharma has been away from cricket since the IPL ended, sparking chatter about his future in international cricket and whether his ODI stint might soon come to a close. With rumours swirling around a possible retirement after the Australia tour later this year, the Indian skipper is quietly working on his fitness to make sure he is ready when it matters most.

Yo-Yo Test For Rohit Sharma And KL Rahul

As reported by Rohit Juglan, journalist from RevSportz, both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will undergo the Yo-Yo Test on August 30–31 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli’s test date, meanwhile, is not yet known.

Rohit To Return With India A Stint

To shake off rust, Rohit is expected to feature in India A’s one-day matches in Kanpur vs Australi A on September 30, October 3 and October 5. Those games will act as his tune-up before leading India in the three-match ODI series against Australia from October 19–25.

At 38, with T20Is and Tests already behind him, Rohit’s ODI journey might well be entering its final chapter. There is speculation this tour of Australia could be his last dance in India colours, though fans are hoping for one last flourish in the 2027 World Cup.

KL Rahul Preparing Too

KL Rahul will also take the fitness test in Bengaluru. Coming off a stellar Test series in England, the wicketkeeper-batter will look to prove his readiness ahead of the heavy calendar that follows.

The Road Ahead For India

Should Rohit decide to step away after the Australia series, Indian cricket faces a tough transition. For over a decade, he has owned the top of the order, piling on tons and match-winning knocks. Replacing that pedigree will be no easy task.

For now, though, all eyes are on the fitness drills at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and whether Rohit Sharma clears the Yo-Yo Test before embarking on what could be the final phase of his career.
