In perhaps the biggest news of the day, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was hit on his left thumb during today's practice session.

Rohit was taken on the sideline as a precautionary measure and was attended by the team physio.

Team Physio, Kamalesh, immediately applied a tape on Rohit’s injured finger and was taken off the field.

As per the latest reports, the magnitude of the injury is relatively unknown, but it may affect Rohit’s participation in the WTC final, which is slated to begin from tomorrow, June 7 at the Kennington Oval.

India are already missing their key players - Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer due to injuries, and they cannot afford another casualty in the form of skipper Rohit Sharma.

Talking about the WTC Final, the Australian side have announced their bowling lineup, with Scott Boland set to play the final in place of injured Josh Hazlewood.

On the other hand, India have not revealed their playing XI, with both Rohit and Rahul Dravid relatively quiet on the team selection. This will be Australia's first WTC Final, while India have already played in the inaugural edition against New Zealand in 2021.

The latest media reports circulated after the injury stated that Rohit is fine and will play the final against Australia on Wednesday.
