Punjab Kings (PBKS) ended their 12-year winless streak at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 37 runs in IPL 2025. After posting 236/5, powered by Prabhsimran Singh’s blistering 91, PBKS restricted LSG to 199/7, marking their first victory at the venue since 2013.

Arshdeep Singh’s 3/16 dismantled LSG’s top order, while Ayush Badoni’s 74 (40) went in vain. The win bolstered PBKS’ playoff hopes, while LSG’s third straight loss dented their chances.

Punjab Kings Break Dharamsala Jinx Under Shreyas Iyer

PBKS’ victory was only their sixth in 14 IPL matches at Dharamsala, breaking a streak dating back to Adam Gilchrist’s captaincy era. Gilchrist leads with five wins as PBKS skipper at the venue, while current captain Shreyas Iyer notched his first.

The venue has historically challenged PBKS, with losses to teams like Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals since 2010. While the captaincy should be commended, post-match, Iyer didn't forget to laud Prabhsimran’s knock.

“Elated to be honest. Everyone stepped up at the right time... Prabhsimran – the way he performed today was exceptional. All the shots played were exceptional to the eyes," Iyer added.

Iyer On Dharamsala Record

Regarding the Dharamsala record, Shreyas Iyer added, "I’m glad I did not know about it. I step onto the pitch to win... Results do matter and that is winning.” Essentially a people's captain, Shreyas Iyer took the minutes to appreciate the team effort besides individual heroics.

"The way everyone executed their roles was just top notch. There is only one thing which we need to improve, that is the awareness in the field with the way we move. That's something we want to tick the box," Iyer concluded.

Notably, Dharamsala has hosted PBKS in 14 matches since 2010, with wins against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings. However, teams like Deccan Chargers, Delhi Capitals, and CSK have also clinched victories here, making it a challenging fortress for PBKS.
