In a much needed fight back, Mohammad Rizwan’s 75* runs knock propelled Pakistan to a 7-wicket victory over Ireland and the wicket-keeper interestingly credited Indian cricketer Virat Kohli for his resurgence in the T20 format.

Pakistan saved their pride by securing a 7-wicket victory against Ireland days after enduring a shock defeat in the series opener.

The batters showed intent as Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a 100+ runs partnership to wrap up a challenging 194 runs chase inside 17 overs.

That being said, Rizwan was awarded the man-of-the-match trophy for his 75* runs knock off 46 deliveries, and he also equaled Virat Kohli’s record of having over 50+ average in T20s amongst batters from Test-playing nations.

Rizwan lauds Kohli!

Rizwan was grateful for the record and credited Virat Kohli, saying he has learned a lot from him in the recent past and has immense respect for Kohli.

“Virat Kohli is a good player and we learnt a lot from him. I respect him,” Rizwan said.

Mohammad Rizwan added that only average players look at batting average. Assessing the conditions and playing according to the team’s requirements is the most important attribute of a professional cricket player.

“I don’t look at my numbers, if you look at the average, you are an average player. If you look at the match situation and the conditions then it’s better,” he added.

The wicket-keeper batter also mentioned Ireland for an inspiring fightback and revealed that they had home turn advantage. Regardless, to be able to cross the finish line in the second game was a moment of great pride for the Pakistani batter.

“If you look at the whole match, they (Ireland) played really well. So have to credit them guys. Chasing 194 is not easy as Ireland know the conditions and they gave difficult time early on but we decide to attack and this is why we were successful,” Rizwan concluded.

The three-game T20 series being Ireland and Pakistan is now levelled 1-1, with the finale being scheduled for Tuesday, i.e tomorrow.
