Rishabh Pant became a babysitter once again in Australia ahead of the impending Border-Gavaskar Trophy third Test at The Gabba. Mohammed Siraj received a scathing attack by a former Indian cricketer for his intense face-off with Adelaide centurion Travis Head while Harbhajan Singh assessed Virat Kohli’s technique amidst the latter’s batting struggles.
Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest news that emerged out of Tuesday, December 10.
Indian Team Poised For Radical Changes After BGT | Report
The Indian cricket team is reportedly poised to undergo some radical changes, especially in the senior’s department, following the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia. As per a report, India’s 10-wicket drubbing in Adelaide has infuriated chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who is willing to make some harsh selection decisions.
The report indicates that the Test future of out-of-form senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is currently in jeopardy owing to their listless run with the bat off late. Moreover, head coach Gautam Gambhir is also under the radar, especially after India’s ODI series loss in Sri Lanka and a Test whitewash to New Zealand at home last month.
Srikkanth Slams Mohammed Siraj For Adelaide Bout With Travis Head
Former Indian cricketer and ex-chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has launched a scathing attack on express paceman Mohammed Siraj for his verbal tirade against Australian centurion Travis Head at the Adelaide Oval. Mere moments after knocking out Head for 140 during the first Australian innings of the second BGT Test, Siraj had a heated altercation with the left-handed batter. The ICC reprimanded both cricketers following the Adelaide Test, with each receiving a demerit point each.
Srikkanth believes that Siraj should have applauded Head for his match-defining knock instead of giving him an aggressive send-off.
Rishabh Pant Resumes ‘Babysitting’ Duties In Australia
Dashing Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant became a babysitter for a little girl in Australia ahead of India’s third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match. In a minute-long video circulating on social media, the 27-year-old can be seen interacting with the girl, prompting fans to praise the cricketer’s humbling and loving personality.
Incidentally, Rishabh Pant was nicknamed ‘Babysitter’ by the media after his on-field sledging incident with former Australian captain Tim Paine went viral back in late-2018. The incident soon turned into a friendly gesture as Pant jokingly posed with Paine’s wife and kids for a social media post.
Harbhajan Singh Assesses Virat Kohli Practice Sessions
Virat Kohli recently snapped his run-drought with a match-winning century against Australia in Perth last month. However, the legendary Indian batter followed it up with twin failures in Adelaide during India’s crushing 10-wicket defeat.
Amidst Kohli’s batting struggles, his former teammate and legendary Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has now given his take over the matter. Harbhajan, one of the official commentators for India’s tour of Australia, noticed that Kohli batted a lot on his ‘backfoot’ ahead of India’s third BGT Test in the nets. The former Indian spinner further emphasised the importance of handling the bounce for succeeding on Australian wickets.
PCB Unveils PSL 2025 Draft Date
Amidst the 2025 Champions Trophy scheduling conflict with BCCI and the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the dates for player drafts of the upcoming PSL 2025 season. As per PCB’s social media update, the draft has been scheduled for January 15 next year, with six franchises set to compete for filling up their squads.
As per reports, IPL 2025 rejects like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Southee among others are expected to attract big bids in the upcoming PSL draft.
