Pakistan cricket is going through an abysmal phase and the latest ICC ODI rankings tell the story loud and clear. Following a disappointing run in the Champions Trophy 2025 and the tri-series before that, several Pakistan players have seen a major dip in their rankings.
ICC ODI Rankings Nightmare For Pakistan As Star Players Keep Slipping
The batters struggled to get going while the bowlers failed to make a big impact on the international stage. The biggest setback came for their opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, who made a comeback in the format during the tri-nation series but barely made an impact.
After playing just one game against New Zealand, he was ruled out due to injury which saw him drop from 17th to 19th place with 621 points. ODI captain, Mohammad Rizwan also took a hit as he fell one place to 21st with 616 points after failing to deliver big scores.
Meanwhile, Imam-ul-Haq has managed to hold onto his 32nd spot but things aren’t looking great for the rest. Saim Ayub, who missed Champions Trophy due to injury, slipped two places to 37th with 572 points while vice-captain Salman Ali Agha is currently placed at 46th. Shockingly, no other Pakistan batter is ranked in the top 100 which shows a serious dip in their batting dominance.
Gill Still On Top, Kohli Surges To 4th, Babar Holds On To 2nd Spot
While Pakistan’s batting lineup struggles, Shubman Gill continues to reign supreme at the top of the ODI batting rankings. The Indian opener, who has been in red-hot form, retained his No.1 position, further stamping his authority as one of the best in the world.
Virat Kohli, India’s big-match player, has climbed up to fourth place after his match-winning knock against Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final. The King is back in the top four, proving that age is just a number when it comes to pure class.
Babar Azam remains Pakistan’s best-ranked batter at No.2, but with 770 points, he’s slowly losing ground. South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen is breathing down his neck at No.3 with 760 points and with the way things are going, Babar will have to bring his A-game if he wants to hold onto his spot.
Pakistan’s Bowling Woes Continue As Rauf & Naseem Slide Down
Pakistan’s bowling department, which has long been their strength, isn’t looking too solid either. Shaheen Afridi has somehow managed to hold onto his No.9 spot, but his expensive spells against India and New Zealand in the Champions Trophy didn’t do him any favours.
Haris Rauf has taken the biggest hit, slipping two places to 24th after a series of underwhelming performances. Naseem Shah has also dropped to 43rd place, while mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has tumbled to 50th which further highlights the struggles of Pakistan’s bowling attack.
