Ajinkya Rahane and several of his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammates arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday, March 11, for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The following day, the entire KKR contingent, including the support staff, kicked off their training camp at the iconic Eden Gardens. Furthermore, as per a KKR social media update, the players also sought divine blessings at the stadium, hoping for a successful campaign in the tournament.

It is worth noting that KKR will enter the IPL 2025 season with a defending champions tag, having won the previous edition by clinching the 2024 title.

KKR players seek divine blessings

On Wednesday, March 12, newly-appointed KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, his deputy Venkatesh Iyer, firebrand middle-order batter Rinku Singh as well as their teammates were spotted seeking divine blessings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to kick off their IPL 2025 camp. The players were seemingly guided by head coach Chandrakant Pandit, who himself was accompanied by team mentor Dwayne Bravo and other members of the coaching staff.

The KKR franchise is set to launch its title defence in the opening match of the IPL 2025 season itself on March 22. Under the leadership of new captain Ajinkya Rahane, the defending champions will go up against age-old nemeses Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens. The KKR team will subsequently travel to Guwahati to face Rajasthan Royals on March 26 for their first away fixture of the season.

Back in IPL 2024, KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in a lop-sided final to clinch its third IPL title, and their first in 10 years, doing so under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
