BCCI's most recent decision to appoint Suryakumar Yadav as the new skipper for Team India has had numerous people questioning why star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was overlooked for the leadership role especially considering that he was technically next-in-line since he was India's vice-captain.

Former India cricketer, Robin Uthappa shared his insights on how Pandya should be seeing silver lining, a blessing in disguise as he needs to take a closer look at how this decision is for his benefit.

"If I were in Hardik's place, I would actually feel taken care of to a certain extent. If I'm 34-35 years old and I'm someone who's been injury-prone through my career and a certain responsibility has been taken away from me with the mindset of extending my career and giving me the best chance to offer my services to my country for as long as possible, keeping that in view, I would actually say OK this is the best thing for me."

He also shared how the ultimate goal is to serve the country and win as many World Cup championships as he can regardless of having the captaincy or not. He added:

"If you asked me between the two what I would pick as a human being, I would say, serving my country and winning as many World Cup championships, irrespective of whether I was a captain or whether I was just a player.

Knowing Hardik Pandya on a certain level, I would say he'd be someone saying it's fine, their perspective is also right. They want a player of my quality and my caliber to be able to serve my country for as long as possible. And I would love to do that as well."

Ajit Agarkar On Why Suryakumar Was Chosen Over Pandya As Rohit Sharma's Successor:

When questioned by a reporter about the decision, Agarkar was prompt in his response, emphasizing that "dressing room feedback played a significant role in the selection of the T20i captain." Surya's appointment was not just a result of discussions but also a testament to his fitness, a crucial factor in modern cricket.

Both Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will now be seen during India tour of Sri Lanka starting July 27.
