Not just Gambhir but also India's chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, did not mince his words while sharing his bold remarks on numerous concerns, one of which was why Hardik Pandya was overlooked and Suryakumar Yadav was picked as the next captain of India.

BCCI's decision to appoint SKY as skipper received many well wishes; however, numerous people also questioned whether not opting for Hardik Pandya was a big mistake.

Addressing these concerns during a press conference in Mumbai, when questioned by a reporter about the decision, Agarkar was prompt in his response, emphasizing that "dressing room feedback played a significant role in the selection of the T20i captain."

SKY's appointment was not just a result of discussions but also a testament to his fitness, a crucial factor in modern cricket.

On the other hand, Pandya, despite his exceptional skills, has been plagued by injuries, raising concerns about his ability to provide the stability a captain should.

Suryakumar and Hardik played pivotal roles in the T20 World Cup 2024 victory; one bowled the crucial final over, and the other held a catch of every Indian's lifetime, making the nation proud.

The much-awaited India tour of Sri Lanka is on the horizon, and SKY and Hardik are set to make their mark. Suryakumar will lead the team in the three-match T20I series, while Pandya, unfortunately, will miss the ODI leg due to personal reasons.
