In an interesting development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to fire Mohammad Rizwan from their country's T20I captaincy role. As reported by Saama.tv, the board is set to replace him for the role with either Salman Agha or Mohammad Haris, as they are set to take major calls before Pakistan's tour of New Zealand.
"Pakistan's T20 captain Muhammad Rizwan is probably going to be fired. Salman Ali Agha and Muhammad Haris are reportedly being considered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as possible successors to the T20 captaincy," the Saama.tv report read.
New Drama Unfolds In Pakistan!
Drama and Pakistan – this is something which never stops. The Men in Green had an opportunity to shine in their own backyard in the ongoing Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, all they managed to do was a forgetful performance overall under the leadership of Rizwan. This triggered the PCB to make a few bold calls, and it is thought that removing Rizwan from the position is one of the many.
Anyway Pakistan will make quite a few changes in the upcoming series in New Zealand, which will have 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is in total starting from March 16 onwards. Muhammad Haris, one of the frontrunners to replace Rizwan, is likely to be in the ODI squads as well, while the seniors such as Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are expected not to be part of the 50-over format’s squad.
Meanwhile, there is another name in the news – Shadab Khan, who did not get an opportunity to make headlines in the Champions Trophy. It will be interesting to see whom PCB show their trust on for the long-term basis.
