The Andy Pycroft vs PCB saga took a dramatic turn on Wednesday, September 17, after the Mohsin Naqvi-led board claimed that the veteran match-referee had apologised to the team for the handshake saga. Notably, a lot occurred before the Pakistan vs UAE match, as the Men in Green threatened to pull out of the tournament.

The PCB had made a demand to the ICC to remove Andy Pycroft from the tournament and were ready to pull out once their demand got rejected. However, the Men in Green took a U-turn on their decision and proceeded with the match, with Pycroft as the referee.

The PCB had also released a muted video, claiming an apology, which led the match to proceed as usual. For the past few days, the controversy between Pycroft and Pakistan has been all over the internet, with a few pundits also claiming the Zimbabwe-origin star to be biased towards India.

Several claims have been made against Pycroft, and the internet has timely defended the referee with data-driven replies. Meanwhile, apart from donning the role of a match referee, Pycroft had also featured for Zimbabwe as a player.

The 69-year-old made his Zimbabwe debut in 1983, and in his nine-year-long career, the right-handed batter featured in 23 matches across formats. Meanwhile, this article will deep dive in Pycroft's career and how has he performed against Pakistan.

Notably, in his 23 matches, Pycroft has faced the Men in Green just once in his career. His only encounter against Pakistan came during 1992 World Cup, when he represented Zimbabwe.

It was a night to forget for the right-handed batter as he registered a duck, which was second duck and last duck of his career. Pycroft, who came to bat at No.3, registered a four-ball duck and fell prey to Wasim Akram.

Eventually, Pakistan registered a 53-run win over Zimbabwe and it was a special tournament for the Men in Green as they clinched their only World Cup that year.
