Tazmin Brits breaks Smriti Mandhana record with NZ ton
South African opener Tazmin Brits registered her seventh ODI century through the course of her 101-run knock from just 89 balls against New Zealand Women in match seven of the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The innings also marked her fifth ODI ton of the year 2025, as she went past Indian prolific opener Smriti Mandhana to record the highest number of Women’s ODI centuries in a single calendar year. Mandhana previously aggregated four centuries each in the year 2024 as well as in the ongoing year 2025.
Rishabh Pant to play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy: Report
Blistering Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will likely play for the Delhi cricket team to make his return to competitive cricket after sustaining a nasty foot injury in England a couple of months ago. As reported by the Times of India, Rishabh will likely play for Delhi in the upcoming 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season from October 25 onwards with an Elite Group D match against Himachal Pradesh in Delhi. His injury prompted him to miss the entirety of the 2025 Asia Cup as well as India’s white-ball tour of Australia.
LPL to return in December with an Indian twist: Report
The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to make its return through its sixth edition later this year. As reported by IANS, the tournament will commence from December 1 onwards and will run up until December 23. Additionally, in a major twist, several Indian cricketers are also set to participate in the LPL 2025 season. The report further indicated that the names of the Indian players will be revealed soon. This year’s LPL edition will comprise of 24 matches, including 20 league games and four knockout fixtures. The matches are expected to be hosted by Colombo, Kandy, and Dambulla.
Kwena Maphaka to go for scans before NAM, Pakistan tours
Young South African fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has suffered an injury scare and is set to undergo scans before South Africa’s upcoming tours of Namibia and Pakistan. The 19-year-old speedster is included in South Africa squad for the upcoming one-off T20I in Namibia as well as for the six white-ball fixtures in Pakistan, both scheduled to commence later this month. Maphaka sustained his injury while playing a domestic game for the Lions team during their four-day match against Western Province, having bowled 5.5 overs before walking out of the field with a hamstring discomfort.
Sidra Amin penalized by ICC for code of conduct breach vs IND
Pakistan top-order batter Sidra Amin has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s high-profile 2025 Women’s World Cup match against arch-rivals India in Colombo. The cricketer was found guilty of breaching the Article 2.2, for forcefully hitting her bat onto the pitch after getting dismissed to India’s Sneh Rana in the 40th over of the run-chase. Sidra scored 81 runs from 106 balls to top-score in the game. However, Pakistan still lost the match by 88 runs despite her valiant effort.
