Rishabh Pant is not only a superstar of Indian cricket but is perhaps the most daring cricketer from India. He is a fighter, and the keeper-batter showed his fighting spirit during the 4th Test in Manchester vs England. The player fractured his toe while attempting a fancy shot on Day 1, and was taken off the field immediately.

Many expected him not to return to bat in the first innings, but Pant defied all odds and fought through pain to walk down the Old Trafford stairs and complete his half-century. The star player received a rousing reception, and rightly so.

He was slated to bat on Day 5 to salvage a draw for India, but he wasn't required as Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar slammed sublime centuries to help India escape. Now, with the Test match over, Pant shared the first image of his fractured leg, which was plastered after the game.

Pant likely to be out for 6 weeks

In a story shared on his Instagram account, Pant's leg could be seen in plaster, and there were crutches beside him, suggesting that he has difficulty even while walking. The image is gruesome for any Indian wicket, as Pant is an important member of the Test team, and will miss the next Test at Oval.

In his place, Dhruv Jurel is likely to play, with Tamil Nadu batter, Narayan Jagadeesan called-up as replacement.

How many matches/tournaments will Pant miss?

There is no timeline for his return, but as per reports, he is likely to be ruled out for 6 weeks. In such a scenario, he will miss the final Test vs England at the Oval and will also miss the Delhi Premier League (DPL). He was set to feature for Purani Dilli 6, but will have to sit out now.

Also, there are no scheduled matches for India in August, but if a white-ball series is arranged with Sri Lanka (as per reports), Pant could miss that tour as well, and is likely to be back for the Asia Cup in September, if he gets picked.
