On Thursday, July 24, Rishabh Pant hogged the internet after the southpaw walked to bat despite a fractured toe. Notably, Pant suffered a blow to his toe on Day 1 and was stretchered off the field.
Pant went for scans, and the reports confirmed a fracture. Rishabh was touted to be out of action for six weeks, but the southpaw brought his fighting spirit out and came to bat on Day 2, limping on the field.
Rishabh received a standing ovation for his courage, and the Manchester crowd stood on its feet to applaud the 27-year-old. With this, Rishabh joined the elite list of brave Indian cricketers who played a match for their team despite fractures.
Anil Kumble - 2002, West Indies
In 2002, India toured the West Indies, and in the Antigua Test, Kumble got hit on the jaw by a nasty Mervyn Dillon delivery, which left India's leading wicket-taker spitting blood from the mouth.
Kumble was carried off the field and was due to fly back home for surgery because of a broken jaw. However, the former spinner decided against it and came to bowl the next day with his jaw wrapped with protective tape.
Not only did Kumble bowl, he bowled 14 straight overs and also got rid of Brian Lara, the key player for the Windies.
2. Sachin Tendulkar - 2007, Pakistan
Sachin Tendulkar is another name who doesn't like to miss action because of injury setbacks. Although in 2007, Pakistan toured India, and a Shoaib Akhtar delivery hit the Master Blaster on the rib cage.
Later, it was revealed that Sachin actually broke two bones in his rib cage, but continued to bat despite pain.
3. Rohit Sharma - 2022, Bangladesh
In 2022, India toured Bangladesh for an ODI series. In the 2nd match, Rohit got hit on the thumb while fielding at slips. The hitman walked off the field, and the scans confirmed a broken thumb.
India were on course for a heavy defeat, but Rohit walked to bat with a broken thumb. He scored a brilliant 51 off just 28 balls, and eventually, India lost by just five runs.
