In a significant development, there are reports that the BCCI is all set to bring in Narayan Jagadeesan to replace injured Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test against England. Notably, India's star keeper-batter got hit on the toe on Day 1, following which he went for scans, which confirmed a fracture to the toe.

Pant is set to be out for six weeks and will miss the fifth Test that starts on July 31. There were reports that Ishan Kishan might be recalled for the last Test. However, reports suggest that Kishan is also recovering from an injury as he fell from a scooty and received stitches on his leg. 

Further, according to Cricbuzz, the 29-year-old Jagadeesan, is almost but confirmed for the fifth Test and will soon travel to England to join the team.

Rishabh Pant Walks To Bat Despite Fracture

Despite the fracture, Rishabh Pant showed bravery and walked to bat after Shardul Thakur's dismissal. Pant took painkillers and injections on his foot so he could bat. The BCCI took to Twitter to confirm that Rishabh won't be keeping wickets for the rest of the fourth Test. 

Although, the board added that Pant will come to bat as per requirement. Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, India are 321/6 and early Lunch has been taken because of rain. 

Who Is Narayan Jagadeesan?

The 29-year-old is based out of Tamil Nadu. The right-handed batter is likely to earn his maiden India call-up. He has played 52 First-Class matches and scored 3,373 runs. Further, Jagadeesan has also featured for Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. 

Jagadeesan has scored 674 runs in 13 innings in the Ranji Trophy, where he averaged 56.17. He scored 2 centuries in that season.
