Delhi Capitals' returning captain, Rishabh Pant, is moving closer to being banned for a couple of games as his slow over-rate offence increased during the recently concluded matchup versus KKR. And this time, the entire team was wrapped under scrutiny.

Delhi Capitals faced Kolkata Knight Riders yesterday at Vizag and the latter unleashed carnage to post the second highest team total of IPL history i.e 272 runs on board.

Sunil Narine's masterclass at the top was carried forward by rookie Angkrish Raghuvanshi and finisher Andre Russell.

Naturally, when the bowling unit was being subjected to an attack of this magnitude, captain Rishabh Pant was rattled and out of answers. He took his time in the field to revise his plans and adjust field placements to somehow put a stoppage to the onslaught.

However, while DC lost the game by 106 runs, skipper Pant was reprimanded by IPL authorities for maintaining slow over rate. In a statement, the authorities mentioned that Pant has been slapped with a fine of Rs 24 lakhs since its his second time offence.

Not only that, as repeated offenders, the entire Delhi Capitals team including the impact player, has been asked to pay Rs 6 lakhs or 25 per cent of their match fees, whichever is lesser.

Notably, another violation of the same offence would result in a ban for Rishabh Pant. At a time when DC is under huge turmoil, it would be devastating for Pant to miss out on crucial games and leave his team hanging in the middle.
