In a significant development, there are reports that India legend Virat Kohli will skipp Delhi's upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match against Railways. The two state associstions were all set to lock horns on January 6 in the fifth round of BCCI's premier fifty-over event.

A report from Vipul Kashyap of ANI, stated that Virat is not available for selection for Delhi's Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Railways at the KSCA Cricket Ground. The report didn't mention the reason behind Virat's absence.

Notably, the right-handed batter played first two games for Delhi and slammed a century and a fifty. However, he returned to his family and skipped the last two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. The 37-year-old was all set to play one more VHT game before joining the Indian side for upcoming New Zealand series. However, the India ace will now directly be seen in action against the Kiwis for three-match ODI series starting from January 11.

Virat Kohli adhers to BCCI's domestic cricket demand

Before the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, the board had instructed India's centrally contracted players that they need to play at least two Vijay Hazare Trophy games if they need to continue being in scheme of things for ODIs. Therefore, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya and all big players donned the jersies of their state associations amid this December window.

Talking about Virat Kohli's performance for Delhi, he first locked horns against Andhra Pradesh and scored a brilliant 131 (101), which featured 14 fours and three sixes. Next up, he faced Gujarat and scored 77 (61).

Even if Virat now goes onto miss the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy game, there won't be any pressure from the BCCI, because he has already adhered to their request.

India ace enjoys New Year with family in Dubai

For New Years, Virat Kohli travelled to Dubai, where he spent quality time with his family. The right-handed batter shared a social media post with wife Anushka Sharma.

Virat Kohli was seen spending quality time with his family and friends as his sister Bhawna shared a picture of the India star along with his nephews, nieces and his brothers and sisters. Noticeably, Vikas Kohli, the RCB veteran’s brother, was also present in the get-together with his wife, Chetna Kohli.
