A unique sight greeted fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium as both India and England players took the field for the third ODI wearing green armbands on February 12. Unlike the usual black bands worn as a mark of tribute, the green armbands symbolised a powerful cause, which is organ donation.

BCCI's Special Initiative

This initiative is lead by ICC Chairman Jay Shah and supported by the BCCI, with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation. Ahead of the match, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir pledged his organs as part of the 'Get a Life' campaign, and players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Shami also voiced their support in a video released by the BCCI.

"Both teams are wearing green arm bands to support BCCI’s initiative 'Donate Organs, Save Lives'. The initiative is spearheaded by ICC Chairman Mr Jay Shah," the BCCI said in a statement.

It is important mention that, the team is proudly organising an impactful Organ Donation drive in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the vital importance of organ donation. This move highlights the extraordinary fact that a single donor has the potential to save up to eight precious lives.

Taking about the match, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss for the third time in the series and opted to bowl first. India made three important changes, as they treated Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Varun Chakravarthy, bringing in Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Arshdeep Singh.
