The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise has parted ways with Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar, and are currently on the lookout for new coaching staff members.

Hesson was appointed by the RCB as team’s Director of Cricket Operations ahead of the IPL 2020 season. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar had replaced Simon Katich in 2022 as new head coach of the side.

RCB axes Hesson, Bangar; on lookout for new coaches

Mike Hesson seemingly shared a great camaraderie with several RCB players, particularly with team zealot Virat Kohli. The New Zealander was appointed as the Director of Cricket Operations for the franchise following the conclusion of IPL 2019, thus spending the subsequent four full seasons with them.

Sanjay Bangar, on the other hand, served as the head coach of RCB for two seasons from IPL 2022.

With their exits, the franchise is now actively looking for their replacements ahead of the 2024 season of the IPL tournament.

Interestingly, RCB’s move occurred just days after the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) roped in Australian great Justin Langer as their head coach. He replaced outbound Andy Flower, who coached the LSG unit in its first two seasons.

It remains to be seen if the RCB would go for an Indian coach or a foreign coach. In quest of its maiden IPL title, the team management will be looking for someone who can inject some fresh ideas into their playing camp.
