Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has been retained by the Birmingham Phoenix franchise for the upcoming Women’s The Hundred 2026 season in England. It is worth noting that Australia’s champion cricketer previously opted herself out of the WPL 2026 season in India for the RCB Women’s franchise citing ‘personal reason’.

Ever since pulling out of WPL 2026, Ellyse Perry has also travelled to New Zealand to turn up for Wellington Women in the Women’s Super Smash 2025-26 competition.

Back in December a couple of weeks ago, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry withdrew her name from the RCB Women’s franchise for the upcoming WPL 2026 season. Perry, along with fellow Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland both cited “personal reasons” behind their late pull out.

As it turned out, Ellyse Perry has now agreed to play for the Birmingham Phoenix franchise in England later this year in Women’s The Hundred 2026 season. On January 7, i.e., a couple of days prior to the launch of the WPL 2026 in India, the 35-year-old got retained by the Phoenix franchise for the fifth edition of The Hundred.

Ellyse Perry herself confirmed her Hundred return by saying, “I'm delighted to be returning to Birmingham Phoenix.”

Ellyse Perry, who joined Birmingham Phoenix back in 2022, has since played 22 matches for the franchise up until the 2025 edition last year. In 22 innings, the middle-order batter charted 545 runs at an average of 30.27 and a strike rate of 127.03, and picked up 10 wickets with the ball.

The legendary Australian cricketer is also a WPL icon for the RCB, having piled up 972 runs across three different editions with an astonishing average of 64.80. Ellyse Perry played a key role in RCB’s title-victory in 2024, where she amassed 347 runs with the bat in just nine innings and picked up eight wickets.
