In a significant development, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of India's much-awaited Test series against Bangladesh at home. Jadeja's wife, Rivaba, who is already a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the ruling party, surfaced the news through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Taking to her official Twitter handle, Rivaba Jadeja posted pictures of her husband as the newest member of the party. She also revealed their BJP membership cards with the hashtag - Sadasyata Abhiyaan 2024, a membership drive recently initiated by the party's national president, Mr JP Nadda.

After joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019, Rivaba contested from the Jamnagar assembly seat three years later, in 2022. She registered a clinical victory over Karshanbhai Karmur, who was fielded by the Aam Aadmi Party.

Ravindra Jadeja is at the twilight of his cricketing career; so, it won't be surprising if he switches to politics following an international retirement.

Ravindra Jadeja's upcoming cricketing ventures

Despite retiring from T20 Internationals after India's emphatic World Cup triumph this year, Jadeja is active in the longer formats of the game. He has been an incredible asset for India in Tests and will feature in the much-anticipated series against Bangladesh on home soil.

Considering his experience and ability to contribute handily with bat and ball, the southpaw could be India's go-to all-rounder in the Australia Tests, which will be pivotal for Rohit Sharma's men from the World Test Championship's perspective.
