Vikram Rathour, who joined Team India in 2019 as a batting coach, is no longer among the coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir, whose journey will begin with the Sri Lanka tour, scheduled to commence on July 27.
Rathour was one of the very rare personalities who had the opportunity to work alongside both Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid, and no wonder, no better person than him could explain their charm and aura.
Rathour On Dravid Vs Shastri
In a recent interview with Sportstar, Rathour highlighted how Dravid and Shashtri handled the situation when they were at the helm. While Shastri, according to his opinion, had a ‘great man management skills’, Dravid was the ‘best coach’ across all departments in mind.
"Great man management skills. He (Ravi Shastri) doesn’t let a poor session or a match affect him too much. After the 36 all out, his reaction was brilliant. ‘Let’s wear it as a badge on a shirt. And let’s be fine. Let’s keep the chin up’. He likes to keep good vibes in the dressing room. I had a great time being with him," Vikram Rathour told Sportstar.
In addition, Rathour also highlighted India were in a transition phase when Dravid joined the Men in Blue, in October 2021.
"Rahul is the best coach I’ve worked with. He has a great character and is good at what he does. He talks well, is very thorough, and is disciplined with his coaching. He took over when India was in a transition phase with significant challenges ahead. We were good friends. And we are even better friends now. The expectations were higher when he joined. He was calm and composed through these challenging times," he added.
Now time will tell whether Gambhir will take the momentum forward from Dravid and Shastri in the times to come.
