In a significant development, Lord’s Cricket Ground, often hailed as the 'Home of Cricket,' has named a suite after former Indian cricketer and legendary coach, Ravi Shastri. The suite was unveiled on the first day of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and South Africa on June 11, 2025. 

The occasion was marked by a ceremonial opening of the suite, with Shastri himself present alongside Jay Shah, the Chairman of the ICC. The moment and the pictures are widely shared and celebrated on social media.

Lord’s Cricket Ground is a venue that has a rich cricketing history and celebrated and remembered for memorable cricketing moments. From iconic Test matches to unforgettable World Cup moments, Lord’s has witnessed the defining chapters in cricket.

Ravi Shastri’s Career: From Player To Coach

It is important to mention that Ravi Shastri has made a significant contribution to Indian Cricket not just as a player but also as a coach later in his career. 

A dynamic all-rounder, Shastri represented India in 80 Test matches and 150 ODIs, amassing over 6,900 runs and taking 280 wickets across formats. His all-round abilities made him a significant player for Indian cricket during the 1980s and 1990s.

Shastri’s performance in the 1985 World Championship of Cricket, where he was named the best player, remains one of the most cherished moments of his playing career. He played a vital role in helping India win the match and take the title. The former cricketer made 185 runs and picked up 8 wickets.

Later on, Shastri was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team from 2017 to 2021.Under his mentorship, the Indian team reached new heights. His tenure was marked by his no-nonsense approach and his focus on building a robust, mentally tough team.
