In a significant development, South Africa's premier spinner, George Linde, has replaced Rashid Khan in Lahore Qalandars' squad for the PSL 2024. Notably, Rashid had been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury. His absence has proved costly for the Qalandars, as they have lost two consecutive games to kick off their PSL campaign on a poor note.
Rashid Khan starred with the ball for Lahore Qalandars, scalping 20 wickets in eleven matches at a superb economy of 6.53. In his absence, Salman Fayyaz has led Lahore's spin unit with modest success.
Thus, Linde's addition to their squad could be a masterstroke by Lahore Qalandars, as he has been in sublime form of late in the shortest format. In 14 T20Is, the left-arm spinner has picked up 15 wickets at an average of 22.7.
In the recently concluded SA20 tournament, he took seven wickets, showcasing his attributes for MI Cape Town.
Talking about Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions had a torrid start to their PSL 2024 journey, losing the tournament opener against Islamabad United. They had an even worse game to follow, as Quetta Gladiators crushed them by five wickets in match 4 of the event.
Up next, the Shaheen Afridi-led side will take on Multan Sultans in the seventh group-stage match this evening.
