As per the latest developments, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise is looking to shift their home stadium from the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur after reportedly having some disputes with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
Notably, the organization and the franchise have not been on the best of terms throughout. The separation between the two sides hit such a low point that the RCA even accused Rajasthan Royals of match-fixing in the previous edition of the mega tournament.
Rajasthan Royals disinterested in SMS Stadium
In the IPL 2025 season, the Rajasthan Royals saw many of their games being hosted in Guwahati, with Riyan Parag, the homeboy, serving as the stand-in skipper for the injured and unavailable Sanju Samson.
With limited hosting opportunities at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in IPL 2025 and with the growing rift, the RR franchise is now looking to move on and has requested a change of venue.
Earlier the Punjab Kings faced a similar situation as they were unhappy with the turnout at the Mohali Cricket Stadium. Consequently, Punjab’s latest step saw them hosting matches at the newly built PCA Stadium in Mullanpur and at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
Reason behind rift and Guwahati shift
The rift between the Rajasthan Royals franchise and the RCA, which is now a dissolved body, reportedly arose from the RCA’s dissatisfaction with the number of complimentary tickets the franchise provided.
Nevertheless, according to a report from The Times of India, the Rajasthan Royals is eager to change their base from Jaipur to Guwahati ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
