With several white-ball assignments jam-packed ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the BCCI has decided to rest current head coach Rahul Dravid and his support staff for the upcoming Ireland tour.

Current National Cricket Academy head and former international player VVS Laxman will take over coaching duties for the three-T20I tour, which starts on August 18.

As per Cricbuzz, apart from Dravid, bowling and batting coaches Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour will also be given a break after the completion of India's ongoing series against West Indies.

The BCCI wants to provide ample rest to Dravid and Co., who will be busy with Asia Cup 2023, the Australia series, and CWC 2023 post-August. While Laxman will be the head coach, Sitanshu Kotak and Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be the batting coaches, while Troy Cooley and Sairaj Bahutule will don the bowling coaches' hats.

Earlier, Laxman coached India during their tour of Ireland and New Zealand last year in the absence of Dravid.

The three T20Is will be played on August 18, 20 and 23, followed by the Asia Cup 2023.

The Indian cricket team will also participate in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 between September 28 to October 8, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
