Former India head coach Rahul Dravid will likely replace legendary Sri Lankan player Kumar Sangakkara as the new coach of Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.

It has been understood that Dravid, currently not associated with any other franchise, is likely to return to his home, the Royals family. According to Cricbuzz, Dravid's return to the Sanju Samson-led franchise is confirmed, as he is the top candidate to step into the role.

Rahul Dravid Could Replace Kumar Sangakkara

This potential return is due to Kumar Sangakkara's possible move to the ECB as England's newest Head Coach since Matthew Motts recently left his role as the England Men's head coach after two years in the office.

Although, Sangakkara revealed that ECB has not yet approached him, he did not show any aversion to the possibility of taking up the job. Meanwhile, ECB is seriously considering Sangakkara to take up the new role.

Here's what Sangakkara told to English media:

“Well, I know my name has been mentioned for some reason, but there has not been any approach as such. I think the England white-ball job is an exciting prospect for anyone, but there are so many good candidates out there. I am very happy at the moment. The Rajasthan Royals experience has been very fulfilling, and it has been a job I have really enjoyed over the last four years.”
