There have been talks about the Delhi Capitals releasing Rishabh Pant ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. One of the prime reasons behind this move could be the fact that, the franchise could not achieve the heights they would have hoped for under his leadership. 

Although, the DC management has not confirmed the move, the cricketing fraternities are certainly discussing about the possibilities Rishabh Pant's move away from the franchise may give rise to. If this move actually realises, then here are three teams who might opt to buy Pant during the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025. 


3. Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings have suffered from inconsistency over the years. In the recent few editions they have been one of the most underperforming teams in the league. One of the prime reasons behind the weak shows put forward by the team might be put down to the vulnerability of their middle-order. 

Besides, the Punjab Kings have also not found a suitable leader to take them to the glories of winning the tournament. Rishabh Pant might be answer to both these questions for the Punjab Kings. He can add solidity to the middle order of the Punjab Kings and also serve as their leader at least for the upcoming two to three seasons. 

2. Lucknow Super Giants

After having two successful seasons to start off their journey in the league, the Lucknow Super Giants failed to maintain their consistency in IPL 2024. There have been talks about the LSG management releasing KL Rahul ahead of IPL 2025. 

It seems like the management is not only discontent with his leadership skills but also his docile batting approach. If KL Rahul is made a free agent, then that will create a vacuum in the leadership role of LSG. Rishabh Pant can take up the responsibilities and help LSG build a formidable squad for the near future.

The most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League has been successfully led by a keeper-batter since the inception of the league to IPL 2023. However, MS Dhoni stepped down from the role and passed on the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad before IPL 2024. 

While CSK might most probably look to build their future core around Gaikwad, Rishabh Pant can be a great addition to the mix of things. Pant has more experience at the highest level than Gaikwad and hence can serve as a great intermediate leader grooming Ruturaj further.
