Legendary Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin found himself at the centre of a controversial incident during Dindigul Dragons' recent TNPL 2025 affair against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. After being wrongly adjudged LBW, Ashwin lost his temper and argued with the on-field umpire, eventually leaving the ground in utter disbelief.
Ashwin Loses Cool After Horrendous Decision Costs Him His Wicket In TNPL
The incident occurred during the fifth over of Dindigul Dragons' innings when R Ashwin and Shivam Singh had already formed a steady stand for the first wicket. Tiruppur skipper R Sai Kishore brought himself into the attack and instantly struck gold, dismissing Ashwin on his fifth delivery.
However, it was actually an umpiring blunder that forced the talismanic Indian cricketer to make his way back to the dugout. From over the wicket, Sai Kishore bowled a regular off break as the ball turned away from Ashwin, who was struck on his front pad following a failed sweep attempt.
As the Tiruppur players appealed, the umpire adjudged Ashwin LBW by raising her finger. However, as the ball was clearly pitched outside the leg stump, Ashwin felt hard done by the decision and tried to convince the umpire through his words and actions.
But, unfortunately, the umpire had made up her mind and the legendary cricketer had to go back to the hut. Ashwin's frustration was clearly visible, as he animatedly tried to explain that the ball had pitched outside the leg stump.
However, as the umpire stuck to her decision, Ashwin eventually started walking, even smashing his pad with the bat in extreme anger and disappointment.
