GT Mastermind Lauds Rinku Singh As 'Most Impressive Youngster'

Ashish Nehra applauded rising Indian aggressor Rinku Singh after his magnificent run during the five-match T20I series against Australia. The former India speedster lauded Rinku for showcasing his skill and dominance while leaving a huge impact on his team's encouraging 4-1 series victory. 

Since the T20Is against Australia were played only four days after the ICC World Cup 2023, Indian selectors rested 13 members of the senior playing squad and picked heaps of promising young talents. Nehra felt Rinku was the best among them all with his aggression in the end-overs phase and his ability to swiftly adjust to an earlier entry point. 

While the left-hander's attacking streak in the final phase of the innings is renowned among fans and experts, Rinku earned special praise after he also batted exceptionally when required to steady the ship following early wickets during the penultimate match of the series in Raipur.

Having played enterprising knocks of 22* off 14 in Visakhapatnam and 31* off 9 in Thiruvananthapuram, the 26-year-old batted astutely for his measured 46 off 29 deliveries in the fourth T20I. 

Speaking to JioCinema after India completed a 4-1 series triumph in Bangalore on Sunday (December 3), Nehra named Rinku as the brightest young talent on show in the Indian side when he got asked to pick one among the talented and promising lot. 

"It's difficult to choose one, but still Rinku Singh, because of the sort of knocks he has played, especially in the last (fourth) match. Rinku Singh is generally known for achieving the target when the team needs 50-60 runs after the 15th or 16th over," Ashish Nehra said. 

"Here he had to play a different role and he showed that by doing it. You might talk as much as you want about the circumstances being easy, or the pitch being flat, but even that wasn't the case there."
