KL Rahul played a slow-paced innings for LSG after coming to open with Quinton De Kock.  . Despite facing 31 balls, he managed to score only 33 runs, with just three boundaries to his kitty.

Before the IPL began, there were rumors that KL Rahul would bat in the middle order for LSG. This speculation arose because he was competing for a spot in India's T20 team's middle order for the World Cup.

With Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal as potential openers for India, and Ishan Kishan vying for a backup spot, Rahul initially intended to bat in the middle. However, when the IPL started, Rahul surprised many by opening alongside De Kock.

Despite winning the orange cap previously, KL Rahul has faced criticism for his slow-paced innings'. Many fans have labeled his approach as selfish, believing that he plays for individual glory rather than contributing to the team's success.

Cricket enthusiasts in twitter react to Rahul's slow innings

After losing De Kock's and Padikkal's wickets vs GT, KL Rahul adopted a cautious approach, which ultimately slowed down the scoring rate for LSG, particularly during the powerplay overs.

KL Rahul struggled to middle the ball and lacked intent while opening the innings. While Rohit Sharma displayed immense intent in his innings vs DC as an opener today, KL Rahul failed to do the same. LSG managed to score 163/5, but had Rahul been more aggressive, the score could have easily exceeded 180.

Twitter fans, including not only LSG supporters but also fans of other teams, criticized Rahul's innings. This criticism is particularly significant as Rahul is being considered as a potential wicketkeeper option for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.

KL Rahul is undoubtedly a champion batsman, but many  believe he should alter his batting attitude to become more aggressive, which could be beneficial for India in the World Cup, if he is selected in the squad.
