On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the much-awaited schedule for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 edition, which will commence on February 17 and will end on March 18.

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars (LQ) will clash with two-time (2016 and 2018) winner Islamabad United (IQ) in the tournament opener at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The six-team tournament will be played across four venues - Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi. 

The breakdown for venues is as follows: Karachi is allotted 11 matches including qualifiers, both eliminators and final, with Lahore and Rawalpindi hosting nine games each. Multan gets the least number of matches i.e. five.

The much-hyped Lahore versus Karachi encounter will be played on February 24 and March 9, with matches being held in Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium, respectively. 

Chairman PCB managing committee, Zaka Ashraf expressed his thrill over the ninth season of PSL, which will also promote grassroots cricket with matches taking place across four cities.

The upcoming season will take place across two legs, with Multan and Lahore hosting 14 matches between February 17 and 27 while the remaining 16 group matches will be held in Rawalpindi and Karachi between February 28 and March 12, after which the caravan will shift entirely to Gaddafi Stadium.
