Thus, the cricketer who was once touted to be the future superstar of Indian cricket hit rock bottom, and there was criticism all around of his depreciating respect for the game. However, a couple of months ago, Shaw decided to revive his career and made a bold move from Mumbai to Maharashtra.
Now, in his first match for Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu tournament, the batter hit a century, signalling his intentions of starting afresh. The Buchi Babu tournament is arranged by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, and the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh game was played in Chennai.

Interestingly, now Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the IPL franchise of the region, has shared a post on their official X handle. It is a video of Shaw is talking about his memories of Chennai and how the city is special for him. The move from CSK has created some anticipation among fans, as it is quite unusual for a franchise to post a video of a player who is not part of their team.
Also, Shaw spoke very highly of Chennai, and this praise from both sides is generally seen when a player is associated with the franchise. Thus, fans on social media are speculating that the Chennai Super Kings are planning to buy Prithvi Shaw in the auction for IPL 2026 or are in talks with the player.
If it does happen, Prithvi Shaw might be seen opening with Ayush Mhatre in the next season, which is an exciting prospect for all CSK fans. However, it could all be speculation, and it could just be a post where CSK is trying to promote Chennai, as Shaw spoke highly of the city.
