England Announce Squad For World Cup; Star All-Rounder In Charge, Key Players Return

The scehdule of  Women's cricket will be fired by the occurence of the ODI World Cup 2025, starting from 30th September. India will be hosting the tournament. The runners up of the last edition, England have announced a powerpacked squad with Nat Sciver-Brunt as their captain.

Notably, this will be the first major tournament for the world number one ranked ODI batter in Women's cricket as the skipper of the team.

Key Players Make A Return To The Squad

The World Cup squad will be bolstered by the presence of their star all-rounder and ex-captain, Heather Knight. She suffered a tendon injury in her right hamstring and was absent from action for the last few months. The presence of the ex-England skipper in the squad will provide them depth, variety and flexibility in both the batting and the bowling department.

The squad is announced after England have played an ODI series against India. Players like Sarah Glenn and Danni Wyatt-Hodge were absent in the series during the English summer. As it appears, these two players have also made a comeback into the ODI squad.

A Strong Composition To Put Forward A Tough Challenge For The Title

The batting unit of England looks good with the presence of players like Tammy Beaumont, Emilie Arlott, Amy Jones and Emma Lamb in the side. One of the biggest strengths of this English team appears to be the plethora of all-rounders they have. 

There are players like Alice Capsey, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Heather Knight and Charlie Dean in the all-rounder section. These players can make valuable contributions and change the complexion of a match with either of their trades.

The spin department of the team led by the world's number 1 ODI bowler, Sophie Ecclestone also looks a pretty strong unit. Along with the efficiency of Ecclestone, there is also the presence of other quality players such as - Liney Smith, Sarah Glenn and others.
