Prithvi Shaw Booked with Criminal Charges by Sapna Gill over Selfie Row

Indian batter Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Surendra Yadav have been booked for criminal charges by influencer Sapna Gill. Notably, Gill herself was arrested earlier this year over the same case, only to be later granted bail by the court.

Sapna Gill has sought registration of FIR under section 354, 509, 324 of IPC. As per her claims, she was assaulted by Prithvi Shaw with a bat. She also alleged that she sexually assaulted by the cricketer. The complaint reads:
“The Complainant states that, the above prima facie criminal acts have rendered the Accused & his friends liable for prosecution under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and thus, in the light of the above mentioned acts and in great anticipation, she has filed this present complaint before this Hon’ble Court for the offences under section 34, 120B, 144, 146, 148, 149, 323, 324, 351, 354 & 509 Section of the Indian Penal Code.”
Interestingly, Gill herself was arrested over the same incident last month, for allegedly assaulting the Indian batsman at a night club in Mumbai. Their heated altercation took place at Barrel Mansion Club over taking selfies with Shaw.
She, along with three others, were granted bail by a court four days later after their arrests. They were accused for manhandling Prithvi Shaw and for attacking his car with a bat.
Shaw is currently engaged in his IPL 2023 duties for the Delhi Capitals.
