The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have unveiled their squads for the upcoming home series against New Zealand. The two teams are set to collide in five T20Is and as many ODI matches between April 14 and May 7 across Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.

Notably, the New Zealanders made their previous trip to Pakistan just a couple of months ago, levelling the two-match Test series and winning the ODI segment by a 2-1 margin.

Babar Azam and co. return for high-profile NZ challenge

Regular Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, along with Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman were all rested from their side’s recently-concluded three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in UAE. As it turned out, the ‘Men in Green’ lost the first two matches before notching up a consolation win in the third.

As Pakistan gear up for a sterner challenge in the form of New Zealand, all of their rested seniors have been called back to both, the T20I and ODI squads.

Azam will continue to captain his side in both series against the Black Caps, while Shadab Khan will remain his deputy. Here is a look at Pakistan’s T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming New Zealand series:

Earlier this week, the New Zealand Cricket Board had also announced their line-up for the tour. They announced Tom Latham as captain for both formats, considering regular skipper Kane Williamson just sustained an injury to his right knee.

The tour will commence with a T20I series, with the ODIs set to launch from April 27. While the ODI matches are not part of the ongoing Super League, they serve as a testing ground for both sides ahead of this year’s Cricket World Cup in India.
