Punjab Kings (PBKS)'s captain Shikhar Dhawan has yet again proved that he believes in leading from the front as the IPL veteran has smoked his maiden half-century of the season, carrying forward the berserk start his partner Prabhsimran Singh gave earlier in the innings.

Dhawan, who scored a classy 40 against Kolkata on Saturday, took himself one level up and scored his first fifty as the Punjab skipper.

In his illustrious IPL career, the Delhi-born batter has smashed 48 half-centuries and two hundreds. 

With this knock, the left-handed artist became the only third batter in the history of the IPL to surpass the 50-run mark for the 50th time, following David Warner and Virat Kohli's path.

While watching Prabh take charge from one end, the southpaw let the youngster go gung-ho against the last year's finalists. However, after the right-hander's dismissal and Bhanuka Rajapaksa getting retired hurt, Dhawan took things into his own hands.

The skipper broke the leash against Rajasthan's go-to bowler Yuzvendra Chahal, hitting the leg-spinner for three boundaries and a mighty maximum.

At the time of writing, Dhawan is batting strongly, with him being at 63* off 43 balls; however, he has just lost Jitesh Sharma at the cusp of the drinks break. 

Punjab are at 158-2 after 15.4 overs.
