Virat Kohli travelled to Indore on Saturday (January 13) ahead of his much-awaited T20I comeback via the penultimate game of the three-match series against Afghanistan.
The Indian batting legend was seen arriving in his special 'Beast' car at the Mumbai airport before flying across to Madhya Pradesh for the second T20I of the series and his comeback match in the shortest format after a 15-month-long absence.
Kohli last played a T20I for India in the semifinal defeat of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide against England and had speculations rife about his involvement and future in the format over the past months.
Kohli Travels To Indore Ahead Of T20I Comeback
But the great right-hander returns now as he gears up for the next edition of the biannual ICC event in June in the Caribbean & USA, having previously emerged as India's top run-getter in the 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2022 editions of the competition.
The moment Kohli embraces the field at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday (January 14), all eyes will be glued on the legend as the fans and prominent experts anticipates a great outing for him on his return to the T20I outfit.
Having kept mum about his fate and future in T20Is over the past 12 months, the 35-year-old now seems willing to give his dreams of holding a T20 World Cup trophy a potential one last push when he holds the bat in hand in the Caribbean & USA.
Kohli has two matches against Afghanistan and a whole season of IPL 2024 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to refine his T20 rhythm and firm up preparations for the marquee ICC competition.
The longstanding anchor has played 115 T20Is for India with 4,008 runs at a strike-rate of 137.66. Notably, Kohli's only T20I century came against Afghanistan during the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai.
