Each stadium across the world carries its own aura and significance that it is remembered for alongside some iconic matches that took place at that venue. Be it Lord's Cricket Ground in London or, Melbourne's MCG, or even South Africa's Cape Town, these venues stay true in the hearts of genuine cricket fans.

Now, another one is likely to join the list soon as the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has received the green flag for a 30,000-seater cricket stadium in Varanasi that will have its theme inspired by Lord Shiva. Most things in the stadium will be based on Lord Shiva's life, confirmed Ankit Chatterjee, CEO of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association.

“The stadium will have a crescent-shaped dome, trident-shaped floodlights, ghat steps-based seating and Bilva Patra-shaped metallic designs on the facade,”

This stadium comes as a massive boost to the organisation as they aim to finish the project in 2.5 years of its inauguration that is supposed to take place on Saturday in the presence of PM Narendra Modi alongside Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Sachin Tendulkar with other BCCI dignitaries president Roger Binny, secretary Jay Shah and vice-president Rajeev Shukla present there as well.

Chatterjee went on to explain that the stadium will have state-of-the-art infrastructure that will be used to host international cricket as the facilities are going to be world-class.

“The stadium will remain with the UPCA on a long-term lease. It will be equipped with seven pitches, practice nets, lounges, commentator’s box, media centre, etc., besides having a big hostel.”

₹330 Crore stadium is being built on a 30.60 acre of land that has already been bought by the BCCI at a value of ₹121 crore from the government. L&T, the project's construction agency, is already in the pre-phase of work that includes soil testing.
