In a hilarious incident, the Board of Control for Cricket in India received applications from several high-profile personalities for the Indian team head coach's job. The BCCI had invited applications through a Google form. As it was accessible to everyone, fans had a chance to spam the portal with fake names.

Besides using the names of legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, the fans also included India's honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and India's home minister, Shri Amit Shah, in the prank.

Thus, the BCCI received over 3000 applications for the India coach's job, a few of which were genuine.

Notably, current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid's tenure will be terminated after the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and United States.

While legendary batter VVS Laxman is rumoured to succeed his former Indian teammate, Gautam Gambhir has also strengthened his case after leading KKR to the IPL 2024 title.

Regarding India, the Rohit Sharma-led outfit has arrived in the United States for the marquee event. They will take on Bangladesh in a warm-up game before clashing with Ireland in their tournament opener on June 5.
