On February 19, the much-awaited Champions Trophy will kickstart in Pakistan as hosts, and the defending champions will take on New Zealand in the first match of the tournament at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. However, ahead of the start of the prestigious event, the PCB landed in hot waters after the Indian flag was missing from the roofs of the Karachi Stadium.
PCB Lands In Hot Waters Over Flag Row
The move angered the fans and cricket lovers, as all the other flags of the participating nations were flying high on the roof. The decision to leave out the Indian flag erupted in a row, and the PCB was forced to release a statement.
Several PCB spokespersons, on the condition of anonymity, spoke to media agencies, where they reported that the ICC had instructed just four flags at the stadium roof, including two nations playing on that particular day.
However, another statement read that since India opted for a hybrid model and won't be travelling to Pakistan, thus the PCB decided to leave out their flag. Similarly, Bangladesh's flag was also missing as they are yet to land in Pakistan and will play their first game of the tournament against India on February 20 in Dubai.
