In a significant development, the PCB has announced key decisions regarding the renovation of their stadiums. Notably, the Mohsin Naqvi-led board is all set to honour former cricketers Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan.

Notably, the stadiums in Pakistan are undergoing renovation, including the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. While the work is nearing its completion, the PCB has decided to honour Afridi and Khan by renaming the enclosures in their tribute.

According to the Tribune, The Quaid Enclosure will be renamed after Shahid Afridi, while the Majid Khan Enclosure will be renamed in honour of Younis Khan. In addition, the PCB has decided to rename the Zaheer Abbas enclosure to the Nazar Mohammad Enclosure. Previously, the enclosures were named after cricket legends Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas. Each enclosure has a capacity of 1,050.

Further, the PCB is also planning to add two more VIP boxes at the Karachi Stadium.

PCB Faces Criticism Over Slow Pace Of Construction

At present, the PCB is facing the heat as fans are worried whether the renovation work will be completed in time for the Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi are the three venues for the upcoming fifty-over event.

Several videos have flouted on the internet, where the construction looks like in its initial stage. Thus, the fans fear that the work will not be completed in time, and the tournament might be forced out of Pakistan because of a lack of preparedness.

Meanwhile, India anyhow would not be travelling to Pakistan for the tournament, and rather play all of their matches in Dubai.
