In a big development coming from Pakistan cricket circles, it has been understood that PSL might once again collide with the Indian Premier League in 2026. According to reports, PCB is planning to host the tournament during the April-May window next year after Ramadan, and two additional teams are likely to be added as well.

PSL likely to be postponed because of T20 World Cup 2026

There is the T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled to be held in early next year, and that is one of the premier reasons for the possible postponement of the 11th edition of the PSL. However, according to a report from Abdul Majid Bhatti for Daily Jang, there are plenty of issues that need to be resolved between PSL teams and PCB before any final decision on PSL 2026.

Thus, the international schedule is likely to force the collision of IPL and PSL again, and it could have serious implications for the Pakistan league. In 2025, many international stars preferred the Indian Premier League over the Pakistan Super League, resulting in a dearth of quality in the PSL.

Tensions continue to boil between India and Pakistan

Also, it might create unwanted tension between India and Pakistan, which has increased quite a lot since the Pahalgam terror attack. The off-field tensions led to a temporary break in both PSL and IPL last year, and the implications of the battle were seen in the Asia Cup 2025 as well.

As far as PSL is concerned, Lahore Qalandars won the last edition after a thrilling win in the finale against Quetta Gladiators. As Pakistan continues to struggle in the shortest format at the international level, PCB would be hoping that their T20 league dishes out more domestic talent and the addition of two teams seems to be a step forward in that direction.
