Jasprit Bumrah has been standing at the pinnacle of what a pacer is defined as in modern-day cricket. He is the one to redefine how a bowler, especially a pacer, can change matches and prove to be a turning point in a game.
Manprit Juneja, Jasprit Bumrah's long time Gujarat teammate, echoed this and stated that the bowler is a legendary name in cricket, much like the tennis star, Roger Federer.
Bumrah is like the tennis legend Roger Federer!
Speaking to CricketNext, Juneja was vocal about Bumrah's mental fortitude and his ever-improving attitude as he elaborated on Bumrah's ability to bounce back from all odds. While highlighting his strengths, he also likened Bumrah to Roger Federer.
“Like I said, he is strong mentally. Whenever he is down, he always wants to comeback stronger. That’s how he was when he started and that’s how he is now. For me, he is like what Roger Federer was to tennis after he turned 30. He showed he can win titles at 36," Juneja stated.
Juneja backs Bumrah's decision to manage workload
The 31-year-old now faces a tough task of workload management, where he may or may not choose multiple formats he wants to play because of his demanding schedule. Juneja backed Bumrah's strength and voiced against the bowler playing all three formats at this age.
“And people forget it is not easy for a fast bowler to play all three formats at 31. If you got to play long, you have to be smart and understand your body. When someone does it, I don’t understand what the problem is? He is a polished and a matured individual, who will always put the team forward," Juneja said about Bumrah.
Nevertheless, Bumrah will be looking next to the Australia T20I series. After coming back from a victorious Asia Cup campaign, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace battery in the T20I squad against Australia from October 29, alongside youngsters Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh.
